The Arab Emirate of Arabistan
The Ahwaz region was historically known as "Arabistan" and was an independent Arab emirate ruled by the Arab Kaab family since the 17th century.
Prosperity and Independence
The emirate enjoyed complete independence from the Persian state, having:
- Its own flag
- Army and naval fleet
- Diplomatic relations with nations
- Its own currency
The 1925 Iranian Occupation
In 1925, Reza Khan (founder of the Pahlavi state) militarily occupied the emirate and arrested its emir Sheikh Khazal Al-Kaabi, ending centuries of Arab rule.
Continued Struggle
Despite decades of oppression, the Ahwazi people continue their struggle to regain their freedom and identity.
